We've been so swamped with music submissions that getting those tunes out there were our main concern. Charles Walker Jr. said some performers will play for career advancement while others will be paid.

The lineup for the James Brown Soul of America Music Festival is starting to come into focus.

Karnal Promotions, a Columbia County promotions and booking company, has been tagged to supply some of the musicians scheduled for May 25-28 in Augusta.

Karnal, which specializes in advancing unsigned artists, released the names of 20 acts from its roster confirmed to perform at the Memorial Day weekend festival.

Shanna Saul, Karnal's owner, said she's been working with the festival for about a month and has no information on other acts that might be appearing .

Festival organizers had experienced some difficulty nailing down performers especially A-list acts, such as India.Arie, George Clinton and the Godfather himself.

James Brown's business manager, David Cannon, said Wednesday that an agreement for Mr. Brown to perform still has not been reached .

Festival organizers have not released a final lineup but are required to as part of the organizational plan that is supposed to be submitted to the city today.

Festival chairman Charles "Champ" Walker Jr. said some of the Karnal acts are being paid, some are being given lodging, some are being paid expenses and some are playing for career advancement and to pay tribute to James Brown. Mr. Walker recently announced that tickets, scheduled to go on sale next week, will be $50 for the weekend.

Karnal Promotions is now a proud sponsor of The First Annual James Brown Music Festival held in Augusta, Ga. We are working extra hard to get our bands in to perform!! Please help to promote this event by keeping up to date on music and vendors needed for this event by paying attention to our blog!!

Karnal Promotions is looking for sponsors to help with the James Brown Music Festival. We have managed to bring in 20 artists from all ofer the US, Canada and Italy and we are proud to say that we promote and support these bands, along with all other unsigned bands during this time. We are looking for people and businesses who might want to donate some of their supplies for this event to be handed out on Sat. May27th in "goodie Bags" that will be distributed to individuals as they come through the door for the chance to promote your business.

Karnal Promotions is in need of:

1. someone to print flyers.

2. Small flat bags, may or may not carry a design.

3. donations to help our bands with lodging and traveling money.

4. old instruments to donate to local school music classes.

5. Radio and Television stations to give us air time

6. A large banner for a float and or booth

7. T-shirts with our logo.

Karnal Promotions is also selling banner ad placement for $100 quarterly. The proceeds will help our bands that are attending The James Brown Music Festival in May.
